Vibe Alive

The 2012 Deadly Vibe Festival in Port Hedland was a very exciting two days!

We left Yandeyarra very early Wednesday morning by bus, and arrived at the festival site just in time for breakfast. We got to meet Claire, who put a huge amount of effort into organising the schools, and Jenni our Vibe Town Mayoress who looked after our every need, including early morning milo!

After meeting the role models including some health heroes, and a opening ceremony, we got to participate in sport, art, dance, music, futures, culture and health.

We entered three teams into the festival; our Little Vibes, the Junior ‘Tigerwolves’ and the Senior ‘Runaways’.

All three teams were selected as a ‘judges pick’ and performed as part of the community concert on the Vibe main stage! The Little Vibes were up first, singing ‘My Yande Home’, a version of ‘My Island Home’ in front of a huge audience. The fireworks were great too!

The Tigerwolves were also asked to sing the following day, and the Runaways performed their dance (a big thanks to choreographer Katie!!) It was all very exciting, and a bit nerve-racking, but a great experience! As Casey Donovan said to everyone…don’t be shame, be game!

We won lots of awards for our efforts, coming home with lots of first place ribbons and gold medals! Well done everyone! Check out the Vibe website for pics, which should be up soon!
