Pilbara Classic Basketball Tournament
The Pilbara Classic tournament was held over two days in Karratha, featuring the Pilbara’s first 3×3 basketball tournament and exhibition matches. Teams travelled from Tom Price, Paraburdoo, Exmouth and Yandeyarra to join the Karratha teams; Cyclones, Girls Academy, Flames, Trouts and Regional All Stars.
Girls All Star Winners
After winning the 2019 NAIDOC Competition, Yandeyarra students were the non-Association team to be invited, which was a huge honour.
The girls team travelled with their Teacher, Jessica Albers, to Karratha and had a wonderful time at the tournament.
It was a really good opportunity for our girls to play against other teams, as in Yandeyarra we only have each other to play against.
U14s 3×3 Winners
Yandeyarra entered two teams in the 3×3 competition; Under 14s and Under 16s. Everyone tried their best, with Glynelle Aubrey being recognised as one of the 5 ‘All Star’ girls, and also to the Yandeyarra U14s team who won the grand final undefeated!
A huge thanks to Sam at Basketball WA, the Karratha Associations and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries for organising and hosting the event. We look forward to next year!
