Marnti Warajanga – a walk together

Marnti Warajanga – a walk together

The MOAD exhibition team came to Yandeyarra Community on Monday 21 May as part of the travelling exhibition ‘Marnti Warajanga – a walk together’.

Wendy, John and Tobias spent three days working with the kids and community members taking photos and sharing their stories. We made a community booklet with all our pictures and sayings. The pictures are up on the Marnti Warajanga website and Wendy has a blog too. William McInnes also flew in for the event – he had a personalised tour of the school and exhibition from Shonoah and Jahmarley.

Wednesday 23rd May was the exhibition opening night with a community BBQ. Thanks to Sharon, Biddy, Aggie, Michelle, Leisha, Peter, Kirkistan, Archie and all the other helpers for cooking up the dampers and roo tails. There was a great band ‘Bad Influence’ who kept everyone dancing through the event.

With Tobias’ talent, Wendy’s organisation and John’s sheer hard work and skills, the exhibition looked great and everyone got to learn and share their thoughts. A special thanks also to Jenny and Michael who got all the catering sorted! We were very impressed by your attention to detail – you all did a great job.

We hope you all had a good time in Yandeyarra (it’s a long way from Canberra) and you are welcome back to visit us anytime!
